Stopping the Traffik

Making Herstory is proud to be joining forces with Stop the Traffik to help mobilise
faith communities in the fight against human slavery.
WHY FAITH TO FREEDOM?

Just some of our colleagues in the STT Faith to Freedom team
Whilst we work with peoples and organisations of all faiths and none, Making Herstory also recognises the consistent exclusion of faith-based communities from wider human rights movements, and a glaring lack of basic resources to help enable faith leaders and members to dismantle human rights abuses occurring within their own communities.
Working with Stop the Traffik (STT) and a cluster of core partnering agencies, we are proud to be development partners of Faith to Freedom: a movement which aims to inspire a global day of worship, prayer and action against human trafficking.
THE AIM
By enabling faith communities to join together, Faith to Freedom seeks to forge a united, tangible, and universal response against all forms of human slavery and enable faith establishments to make an annual commitment towards:
- Raising awareness: to ensure local communities are no longer ignorant of human trafficking practices that may be occurring in their midst;
- Mobilising communities: to recognise the signs of human trafficking and begin reporting these crimes to local crime-fighting units; and
- Active prevention: to help dismantle the global crime of human trafficking by tackling its existence and root causes at a local level.
Resources have currently been developed for the Christian, Jewish and Muslim faith communities. However, we hope to develop new resources to help combat human slavery in other religious faith groups, including but not limited to, the Hindu, Sikh and Buddhist faiths.
Whilst our global day of action is designated to 19th October of every year, these resources can be utilised by anyone at any time.
